Every community in America should be so lucky to have an organization like Fields for Kids advocating for children.  The Larchmont-Mamaroneck based Fields for Kids program is a community-based organization with the mission of advocating and raising money to provide children in the area with safe and up-to-date playing fields.  These fields allow children to enjoy outdoor activities and to participate in school-related and community-run sports programs in the Larchmont and Mamaroneck areas.

Larchmont-Mamaroneck Fields for Kids is a community-based organization whose mission is to advocate and raise money for the adequate number of safe and up-to-date playing fields for students participating in school-related and community-run sports programs in our area.

We Support

  1. The positive impact of active sports      participation on academic performance and
    the development of healthy individuals.

  2. Municipal and community efforts to find
prompt solutions to the current shortage of fields, including investigation of new fields,
    turf, and/or lighting.

  3. Partial private funding for the upgrade of   existing fields and creation of new outdoor    fields.\

Play is important. Outdoor team sports develop kids physically, socially and emotionally, and are a proven antidote to obesity and at-risk behaviors.  Through sports, we foster community, celebrate diversity, nurture healthy lifestyles, and help many kids stay connected to school.  Improvements to the high school field will benefit all kids in the district — through PE classes, district teams, intramurals, recess, and community youth leagues.

A visible sign of wellness in our community.  Fields are out there for everyone to see.  Fields in poor condition say a lot about how much pride we take in our schools and properties.  Fields in great condition will make it clear that we are a vital and healthy community, committed to our kids and our schools and our health.

While they receive some funds from the neighborhood school districts, they are always in need of extra assistance.  Doctor Lawrence Jaeger of Larchmont, for instance, recently opened his home for a fundraiser for the cause.  They are always looking for donations and for creative ways to spread the word about their important cause and their upcoming fundraising goals.
